Chapters 1 & 2

How do you think Fern feels about Wilbur? How do you think she feels when she has to call her uncle to arrange to sell Wilbur?

-I think Fern feels glad to have Wilbur as a pet. Her feelings change when she has to give Wilbur to her uncle. Fern tells her father not to sell Wilbur ,he does.

Chapters 3 & 4

What happens because Fern does not come to visit Wilbur? How might Chapter 3 have been different if she had come to visit him?

-When  Fern does not come Wilbur feels lonely. Wilbur would not have escaped or feel lonely if Fern visited him  every day.

Chapters 5 & 6

Wilbur is happy to have a new friend in Charlotte, but he says friendship is a gamble, and each person has good and bad qualities. Why do you think Wilbur worries about becoming friends with Charlotte?

-Wilbur probably thinks that Charlotte will eat him. Maybe Wilbur feels like she is a bad spider .Wilbur wants to know if she will play with him.

Chapters 7 - 9

Write as many words as you can that describe Charlotte's character. Choose your favorite three words and explain why you chose each one.

-good, nice, encouraging, caring, trust-worthy, helpful

Caring - Because she cares about Wilbur and she says she won't let him die.

Nice - Because she never yells, is nice to Wilbur by not in a bad way telling him that he's not able to spin a web.

Trust-worthy - Because she tells Wilbur that she's not going to let him die and she promises that she won't, and Wilbur trusts her.

Receiving UPS packages of new curriculum is so much fun! We received part of our k12 materials this evening. The kids and I had a good time opening the boxes and checking things out. We have already nibbled a little, having done some literature and Spanish over the past two days. Now that our materials are arriving, we can really start diving in. We're all excited about it. :)
