Now that the sickies are *almost* gone...

Saturday, February 9, 2008, 03:56 PM EST [Homeschool]

We'll be able to actually get some work done this week coming. By Wed. everyone was feeling bad. Temps were soaring (I think Jake had the highest at 104.8), bodies were aching, noses running.. it was terrible here this week. I still have a bit of stuffy nose/sinusy thing going on, Amanda and Jake have a nasty cough yet.

So for school work this week, we'll do what we were supposed to last week. LOL

Mon Feb 11: 1 lesson math, 3 pages grammar (and we are finished with this book for the year), and 2 lessons health.

Tues Feb 12: 1 lesson math, 2 lessons health, 1 lesson Word roots, reading.

Wed Feb 13: 1 lesson math, 2 lessons health, reading, 1 lesson word roots, and science or history reading.

Thurs Feb 14: 1 lesson math, 2 lessons health, reading, 1 lesson word roots, and science or history reading.

    Fri Feb 15: Co-op

And we are going to start watching the Planet Earth dvd's. I've been digging up some awesome sites to use along with the shows.

Also this week, I have a parents meeting on Tue the 12th for our Earth Scouts group we are starting. I've been wanting to get one going for awhile.. and finally posted to our local group about it. So we have like 13 families and about 25 or so kids. :) So the moms are getting together to discuss things (meeting times/place/frequency, etc).

    Reviews and Updates

Monday, February 4, 2008, 11:23 AM EST [Homeschool]

Last week was a good one. Here is what we ended up finishing: 3 lessons math, 9 lessons grammar, 6 lessons health, and some reading. We didn't have co-op on Friday because of a small ice storm that came our way. It wasn't terrible, but some members are coming from a bit out of the way, and it wasnt worth having them chance it to come.

So instead, one of the moms that started the co-op invited us and 2 other families to her house for lunch. (We all live within about 15 miles or so of each other, with 3 families all within 5 miles.) So we had a nice afternoon of spaghetti, cake, coffee, and chat.

Then over the weekend, the game store we go to on Thursday and the weekends (Hubby and Jake go all day on Saturdays) was having a Customer Appreciation weekend. So Jake and dh went on Friday, then Amanda and I joined them all day Saturday and some on Sunday. It was quite a lot of fun watching all the different games. Mostly we watched the ActionClix type games (Hero and Halo) and we saw a few new games (Pirates of the Carribean and Star Wars minis). Then Sunday we came home to hurry and ready for the super bowl.

So, here is what is on the menu for this week. :)

Mon Feb (ACK can you believe it is Feb already!!!) 4: Jake woke up sick this am, so he'll be on the couch vegging out today. Amanda will be doing the following - 1 lesson math, 3 pages grammar (and we are finished with this book for the year), and 2 lessons health.

Tues Feb 5: 1 lesson math, 2 lessons health, reading. If Jake is better, he'll do the remaining 3 grammar lessons also.

Wed Feb 6: 1 lesson math, 2 lessons health, reading, and science or history reading.

Thurs Feb 7: 1 lesson math, 2 lessons health, reading, and science or history reading.

Fri Feb 8: 1 lesson math 2 lessons health, reading (if we haven't finished the lesson yet), and art.

    Mid-Week Update

Wednesday, January 30, 2008, 05:42 PM EST [Homeschool]

While I am waiting on supper to cook, I thought I would post a quick update.

Schoolwork done so far this week, although not as much as I'd have like to have done.. but still it is something. :)

2 lessons math, 6 lessons grammar, 4 lessons health, halfway through 1 lesson of reading (I think we'll only get 1 finished this week.. there is more reading than I thought), and some history map work. Monday we didn't get much done, as I had grocery shopping and such to do.

I wasnt able to work in the pantry today. So hopefully tomorrow I can finish up. :)

Tonight's supper is BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches with monterey/colby cheese and fries. :)

What's in store for the week ahead

Sunday, January 27, 2008, 02:35 PM EST [Homeschool]

So last week went ok.. not quite as much work finished as planned.. but not terrible. Our review went well. She wants us to get more math done though, hehe, which I knew I was going to hear about that. ;)

So here's what on the schedule for this week:

Mon Jan 28: 1 lesson math, 2 pgs Grammar, 2 lessons health. That's all I have planned because I have some running to do (groceries, paint store, etc). Then Jake has AniManga Club at the library at 4:30.

Tues Jan 29: 1 lesson math, 2 pgs Grammar, 2 lessons health, 1 lesson reading, and read from our science book.

Wed Jan 30: 1 lesson math, 2pgs grammar, 2 lessons health, 2 lessons art, and history magazine reading.

Thurs Jan 31: 1 lesson math, 3 pgs Grammar, 2 lessons health, 1 lesson reading, and read from our science book.

Fri Feb 1: Co-op, and read from history magazine.

And I determined for Jake and I to finish reading/listening to Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire this week. And my shows come back on!! LOL I know that has nothing to do with homeshcooling. ;)
