    Pride Days

Saturday, July 19, 2008, 08:19 AM EST [General]

So this weekend is Pride Days in our little town. So I decided to have a yard sale yesterday and today. Well last night while the kids were swimming in the pool and I was sitting there with them, Amanda asks what happens on Pride Days. I tell her it is just a little celebration to get people to visit the community. They sometimes have things on the street, and at the one park (vendors, food, and such). She said we should go march too. I told her there is no parade usually for Pride Days.

Come to find out she thought it was a Gai Pride Days celebration. LOL I couldn't stop laughing. I told her that is usually in DC, and sometimes other larger areas have celebrations. I don't think we do in our county.

And just to clarify, none of us are, but she really hates how the gai community is treated. (And yes I know gai in not spelled that way, but the filter is blocking the correct spelling!)

    John Mayer Concert

Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 09:31 PM EST [General]

Back in May I had won a concert from our local radio station for 2 free John Mayer concert tickets. YAY! So the concert was on Sunday the 13th. And of course, it rained, AND the tickets were for lawn seating.

So my friend Marti and I went and hoping that the rain would not hit. We went to Red Robin for dinner, YUM! The blueberry pomegranate speckled lemonade (I think that's what they call it) was very good. The first glass was anyways, the second was too sweet and I couldn't finish it all. My chicken burger/sandwich was very yummy as were the fries.

So we get to the concert venue (Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia MD) and get in line to wait to get into the concert area. It sprinkled a little, but the sky was too terrible looking. We weren't in line too terribly long, considering how many there were. We pick a spot on the lawn up front and to the left of the stage. Not a terrible spot, but still on the lawn.

Then the rain gets a little harder and harder. At one point it was coming down pretty good. Then it slacked and was more or less a nice constant shower for the rest of the night. Brett Dennen was the opening act for John Mayer. So about 7:30pm he started his set. He did I suppose 5-6 songs, I wasn't paying a ton of attention to him. He is good, but I was there to see John! lol

Finally about 8:30pm-ish John FINALLY came on stage. Of course, the rain seemed to be a little harder at this point. I was drenched mind you. And trying to hold an umbrella and snap pictures when I could was not easy, especially when tryign to keep the camera dry. But I got some decent photos. John played about 9 songs, and said good night. So we waited.. he had to come back right? YES! and he did for another 3 songs. One of his band members did a cover of Van Halen's "Panama" and it was awesome. Of course, John taking his shirt off to jump around the stage wasn't bad either. ;)

I think one of the funniest things he said all night was "There's a girl down front with a shirt that says "I'm legal in 2 years". John said "Well I'm a pervert NOW!" ROFL That had everyone rolling.

And apprently John Mayer has a great sense of humor.. just google "John Mayer in a thong" to see what I mean. If you are easily offended though, don't bother. hehe
