Just
a quick heads-up before a take the weekend off for a head-cold....
Chuck E. Cheese has their new Reward Calendars up! You and your kid(s) mark
the days of completing some activity and they ear free tokens for the
action.
We actually use Chuck E. Cheese for our little ones to complete simple
book reports. After 20 completed, we go for a short trip. This helps,
because as second graders, my boys are having to learn that there is more to
books than just reference. It has been a struggle, but this is working for
us.
More on that later. I am going to sip on some hot tea and read
something....
Click the photo or

They are all NEW and UNused! If you are in the market for first grade Alpha Omega LifePacs, please come see my offer on eBay. I have ALL FIVE subjects in five individual auctions.

Dinosaur Days!
We were supposed to start our Human Body Lap Book / Unit Study, this week. And we were suposed to start our American Independance LapBook / Unit Study, as well...
Well, then I found this great FREE site and made the mistake of showing it to my kids who began to lobby me to change the schedule to, "Do DINOSAURS first"!
Sigh . . .
So, we will be doing Dinosaurs, first!
Let me tell you about this free site... Many of you may e aware of it, already. It is called: http://www.learningpage.com
They require you to be a "Member" but it is free and I simply give my trash yahoo address, used only for signing up for things like this.
(Good hint, by the way. Make a new yahoo address simply for the things you sign up for, and all that garbage does not fill up your personal email account)
They have MANY MANY MANY free pintables. Some divided by Letters, Numbers, Measurement.... Some divided by Science topic, such as Ocean Life, Insects, and Dinosaurs.... They even have their own book series with sets of worksheets and pintables that go with the free downloadable books....
Now the science section has Cross Curriculum Sheets for EACH subject! We Have Math, Grammar and Science Worksheets for the appropriate grade level (From PreK to 3rd grade) so all my kids can work along side each other. (And Apparently Dino Math is MUCH more fun that regular math.....In case you did not get the "Memo") Haha!
Did I mention it was FREE????
As we discovered the Dinosaur section, itself divided up into sections. (Each of the science sections have the same "Sections". They have Teacher Note, they have Lesson Plans, they have MURALS! (You print each sheet then hang on wall), they have Fact File Sheets for studying, and they have much more...
So, here are a few photos of us beginning our Dinosaur days...
Here is a DIRECT Link tot he Dinosaur Information. (You have to be a member to get it, but it is free...) Click HERE
Here are more links to more FREE Dinosaur Stuff that we plan to use.... (Most is in PDF Form!!)
Dinosaur Report Form (Book) I print with a 2 per page setting on my printer to get two pages on one sheet, which saves paper and reduces the book size to mini book size, to fit better in lapbook.
Dinosaur Coloring Pages and Handwriting Twelve Pages of coloring and tracing of the names. I would NOT consider this a "Handwriting" page, but maybe for the youngest set. But the pages are FUN to color for all ages and make for GREAT covers!
Dinosaur Graph How big were the dinosaurs? Graph their sized and see for yourself! Two pages, and if you print them 2 per page, you get both on one sheet small enough to fit in lapbook, and still clear and readable!
Dinosaur Memory Game Cards These are cards that work best printed in black and white on thick paper, some call it "Card Stock". Some call it "TagBoard". This is silhouetted images of dinosaur shapes two of each. Just like the classic memory game, you place them randomly on the table, turn two over, if they match, you keep them. They do not match, you loose.
This Dinosaur...Early Reader Book A Mini-Book Print out the following pages to make a This Dinosaur... early reader book for beginning readers. Have the students cut out each square page. Staple the pages together at the left, then read the book, color the pages, and write the phrase, "This dinosaur ..." directly under the printed phrase. 8 Pages. You can download all 8 at one time, if you are a member of enchanted learning. If not, no worries, they are still free, you just have to download one at a time.
Dinosaur World Map Tab Book This is a mini-book that uses TABS at the top. Very cool. It is 8 pages of continents with miniature Dinos that have had their bones found on the corresponding continent. Cute, but only in black in white.
Where were the Dinosaurs on the Ark? This is a "Christian" website devoted to giving answers to many questions, such as those. This is a direct link to their page about dinosaurs. Many articles.
Ok, that is it for now. When we finish, I will get more pictures!
We finally finished our Creation LapBooks and I wanted to get them up for you to see. I will also post links so that you can choose to get your supplies where we got ours. We hope this helps you to discover new and fun ways to learn right along with your children!
Creation LapBooks!
(We are a family of 5 living in a small 2 bedroom apartment, due to an auto accident that left DH temp in a wheelchair... so what you see is the living room turned into a classroom and in the background, the dining room is used as a living room....)
Z-Man works on his Creation Crossword (Found HERE)
C-Man and Z-Man work on their Creation Match Page. (Found Here)
A completed Creation LapBook! (The coloring page for the cover Found HERE)
Opened LapBook with extension (I created the extension by cannibalizing another folder and cutting it to size. This helps to created more space. I simply stapled it to the top of the existing LapBook) The basic files for this LapBook can be found in THIS LapBook eBook. Click HERE
This is my FAV-O-RITE Children's Bible! It is the The Golden Children's Bible. It is a NEW bible, but it is a RE-PRINT of the classic one that we grew up with. You may have seen a sampler in your pediatricians waiting room. This bible is absolutely the BEST for reading to your child, the basic pertinent facts to INTRODUCE bible stories! The words are NOT babyish and the illustrations are GRAND! (You can get yours HERE!!)
The illustrations are just fabulous!
Check out the 10 Commandments page! Gorgeous!
Ok, well thank you for reading all of this. We tried really hard to show you all we did and to minimize the photos and file sizes so that you could view them even with a dial-up internet connection. I hope this information helps you in your journey!
We cut their Mops! The twins now look like well cared for little boys.... For the most part! hahahaha! Their summer time mop-tops are now a thing of the past. It is time to get down to business and we need to dress for success.
They went to church today amid all of their friends and teachers fawning over their new hair cuts. They felt so proud of their new hair cuts!
Now, personally, I would have left their hair long, but it was really becoming too hard for them to brush. See, my twins are now seven and in case you did not get the memo, (I did not get the memo either...) When boys turn severn, they are no longer babies. They are BIG kids, now and need to brush their own hair.
Well! Ok, then! Get to it! However, they felt their hair was unmanageable, so they wanted it cut.
Now, they use Infusium 23 spray on their hair, then brush it how they wish....
