    SNOW

Saturday, March 8, 2008, 08:35 PM EST [General]

Man, the weather has been crazy this week!! It was warm and rainy at the beginning.
On Wednesday we had an ice storm that took out the power for 4 hours.  Try getting kids to do school work with that, especially when they cannot use the computer to do elluminates with their teachers or get to the ols to do their online work.
Thursday was sunny but cold, then comes Friday.  It has been snowing since Fri. morning.  There is over a foot, maybe 2 on the ground and its still snowing now, Sat. night.  We had erands to run Fri., got one kid from college, picked up glasses for all 4 at 2 stores,  got my flute from the repair shop, went to the bank, and had lunch out.  Driving was bad, but the kid had to be picked up, and the other erands were closer to his school than our home.
To add to the craziness this week, one of ds2's friends stopped by our house after school, they had early dismissal for parent/teacher conerences.  Some kids were bullying her all the way from school (about 1/4 mi), and waited at the corner across from our house.  She called the police after about 15 min.  The officer talked to them and they left.  She thought her dad was going to come get her, but ds2 ended up walking her home after he was done with his school work. She helped me by doing lessons with ds3.

     .

Do you remember the name of the town in Shrek?
I just found something interesting while going through last weeks Dover Publication clip art samples.
Some of the samples are from Dulac's Fairy Tale Illustrations.  Edmund Dulac illustrated childrens books during the early twentieth century.
Did you say the name of the town is Dulac?  correct

    I Survived

Monday, February 18, 2008, 01:50 PM EST [General]

Yeah, I survived, and there's still food in the house.  I burned the burgers, but they were ok.  We had pizza and a sub after church on Sunday (grazing food).
Can someone tell me how three teenage boys can fit in a loft bed?  They are not small either.

My dh told me that he heard that the church we've been going to may be planning to close their doors.  I went to the anual meeting after church.  It was just a rumor.  Now that is something I may not have survived.  We just started going there regular.  I had a hard time with the church we've been going to for years.  They were like family to me, then they started replacing me in jobs I really enjoyed doing without warning, or telling me why.  The last time I was told I needed to spent more time with my kids.  HAH!  They forget, a parent that schools at home spends atleast 30 hours a week more with their kids than those with kids in b&m schools. Oh, selfish me,  I needed a few hours without the kids and with other adults, doing something I enjoy.  Anyway, the church we are going to now may be small, but it is doing well.  It is a family.

    Crazy

Saturday, February 16, 2008, 11:06 PM EST [General]

I am sitting here thinking I must be crazy.  DD is at a friends house, dh is working tonight, and I told my 15 yo ds he could have 3 friends over.  Here I sit, the only female in a house full of boys, 5 of them, between the ages 10 and 19.  One of his female friends wanted to stay over.  I may be crazy, but not THAT crazy.

    Sledding

Monday, January 28, 2008, 03:04 PM EST [General]

I took the kids sledding last monday.  My daughter grabbed her discs and I grabbed my oldest sons runner sled, which no one wanted to use any more.  The kids said it didn't go very well on the hill.
I watched the kids go down a few times on the discs, then I took the old sled to the top, and started down.  I hit a bump about half way down and rolled off the sled.  The sled and I were both ok.
After seeing Mom on the sled, the kids decided it was cool, and used it for about half an hour before going on to other things.
I tried one of the discs, but it was kind of small for me.
When they were done with the sled they gave it back.  I took another turn, but this time I hit a bigger bump.  I stayed on the sled, but when I landed I broke the seat in three places.  Oh well, atleast I didn't break me.
We stayed at the hill for about 4 hours, everyone had fun.
