There are a lot of great people here but I am just not comfortable with the format here. It is much like my covenspace blog and I don't keep it updated for the same reasons.
So I spent much of last night moving to blogspot. If you are interested in keeping up I would love to have you join or continue reading over there. http://howlsmovingcastleroadschool.blogspot.com/
Well it is official my baby girl has turned 11:-( We celebrated it by having it with the whole RV park in a BIG BBQ!! The kids ran around laughing and playing. Carl even got to come home for a bit and chase around with the kids. Enjoy the video
I am posting this in the event there is other RVing families in the homeschooling community here as well as have it for reference in the event I forget about it...lol.
RVers looking to work while on the road can place their resume in
the Awesome Applicant resume database which is searched daily by
employers across the U.S.
The Awesome Applicants
resume database was created in 2002 by Workamper News, a company who
helps great people find great jobs in great places. The ability to
place a resume in the online Awesome Applicants database is one of many
tools provided to help the RVer find the best employer possible. RVers
who utilize these tools are subscribers to Workamper News and are
active or future Workampers. Workampers are defined as individuals,
couples, and families who have chosen a lifestyle that combines any
kind of part-time or full-time work with RV camping.
Workampers
can log in to Workamper.com to create and edit their resume with ease.
A step-by-step tool called the Resume Builder will guide the user
through each section of the resume. The different sections included in
the resume are Applicant Info, Work Settings & Compensation, Work
Locations, Sell Yourself and Photos. A Workampers resume will be active
in the database as long as they have a current subscription to
Workamper News.
An important aspect to the Awesome
Applicants resume is the availability date. Planning ahead is crucial
to Workampers who are constantly traveling to different areas of the
U.S. With other programs, you might have to hide your resume, but with
the Awesome Applicants resume you can just edit your availability date.
Frequent updates will allow employers recruiting for upcoming seasons
to know you would be available for their operation dates. But, if a
Workamper does find a more lengthy position, it is possible to hide
your resume from the searching employers.
The Awesome
Applicants resume database is searched by approximately 2,000
employers. "We have been home about a month and 'let's try it again'
hit us. Within 48 hours of updating and moving our Awesome Applicant
resume to 'active,' we had two replies," said the Tumbleweeds, a
Workamping couple. The Awesome Applicants resume system can always be
at work for you.
The Resume Builder tool also has a
couple options for the Workamper who wants to be proactive. You can
email your resume to any employer, whether they are a Workamper News
subscriber or not. And you can print your resume to mail or fax it to a
prospective employer.
An Awesome Applicants resume can be
created any time once you are a subscriber to Workamper News. Other
benefits of being a subscriber can also include: a bi-monthly magazine
filled with hundreds of Workamping opportunities; a daily Hotline email
with new job listings; full access to the Workamper News Forums site;
ability to create a profile in the Workamper Community to make friends
and stay in touch with other Workampers, and more.

I haven't felt well the past week or so. Came on gradual and every morning I felt well I didn't feel awful so probably tomorrow it will be gone...guess not. I have been off my thyroid meds for nearly a month due to I couldn't find anyone local that carries it. I still had my iodine so that was at least something but the body aches are really settled in from the lack of meds. I had to special order the meds at the healthfood store as I haven't found a health practioner here that carries it. Funny thing is I got sent to a vet in Glenwood Springs while in CO. I said now just because I am a pet photographer doesn't mean I need to get my meds from a vet (though some days I think they are better than traditional docs). lol we at least had a good laugh over it. But even the vet was out and was placing his order but it wasn't to be in until after we had left.
Well where I was enjoying no payments on our great cheap find, we decided with this looking to be a coooold and long winter in MT we should get something more 4 season. So we went and purchased a 1992 29ft Avion 5th wheel. Very nice actually and after we get it set up we will post photos (I forgot to take before photos so may not be able to get the outside view considering it is already set up in the RV park and a tight spot at the moment.. I really didn't want payments but we got a good deal as it is $4000 under bluebook and our down was the trade of the other rv so not a bad deal so far. It has wood floors in the kitchen, oak cabinets (thru out the rv), built in microwave, 1 slide out, decent bath compared to some I have seen, more inside storage than I remembered from the first time we looked at it, AC ~though I have a feeling we won't be using it too much at the current as it is only 39 degrees this morning...lol. Anyhow where I didn't want payments I am definitely loving the new RV. Goal is to have it paid off by late spring before we start hitting the road:0)

Paige our blue princess is kinda nervous...from our moving from one rv
to the next in a short time. You see started out in our old truck slide in
camper. It was oversized so I thought well we can survive for
awhile...yeah not!~~ was great for weekend getaways, but NOT fulltime for
our size family, but we made due. Well for the summer anyhow so that
is something and
we were so busy most of it we weren't really home. As the summer
suddenly chilled off and we were inside more we decided maybe something
larger. Found our other 2nd rv for $500 the guy said the furnace and
fridge didn't work and it was old so that is all he was asking for
it...cool both easy fixes and for financial costs we would improvise
for the winter if need be...but a 28ft 5th wheel felt like a mansion
compared to the old truck
camper so we would work around those issues. Got it all set up and the
fridge did indeed work ($1500 already saved)!! So
definitely excellent purchase. Never checked out the furnace though.
The cats seem to like it so far, and Patches as long as her girl Kelda
is near she hasn't a care in the world where we are.
Then we were told by a friend her brother was trying to sell his avion due to the payments being high and he was ready to move into a house again after 4 or so years living in it to try and save money to purchase something he wanted in Bozeman MT...hard place to purchase in like Jackson Hole or other resort towns. So we looked, chatted awhile, went home thought it over and with our first snow we felt how chilly it was in the old '73...our little electric heater kept the chill off, but we started to fear the what ifs of what can be harsh montana winters and felt it might just be better to bite the bullet now and just upgrade. So that is what we did.
HOWEVER this sudden change in plans has changed our going to Idaho Falls to the museum. Which is sad because we were going partially for Inger as today she turns 11!! I wanted her to be able to say she went to "Egypt" so to speak for her birthday. Something she would never forget. We are still going to try before the exhibit leaves in Nov, but for now it is on hold. We had moved to Bozeman just as it was leaving there last year:0( We made the bat exhibit though...lol.
alrighty it is 7 so unless the kids are really exhausted from working so hard yesterday with the moving from one rv into the next they will be up soon. I am considering french toast...sounds really good this morning esp since I am not so sick today. I am typically not a breakfast person but it is my fav breakfast and being our first morning in the new RV sounds like a treat.
WARNING..... this post may be more political than you care to read so skip the excess click on the links to learn about Palin. She definitely is NO HITLARY thankfully.
Read as much as you can about Sarah Palin. Her story is remarkable
and inspiring. She's about as solid a conservative as you can find
right now. There will be many attacks on her launched in the media over
the next 60 plus days, primarily because she is such an
excellent pick for McCain. A suggestion - don't rely on the ads or the
pundits, go to the Internet and read the original source material. Then
launch a counter-attack, armed with the facts.
I for one am really liking what I see. I was a strong Ron Paul supporter and reality is setting in he doesn't have a chance because well he is honest and trying to bring America back to its roots. I lost interest in this election until I heard of Sarah Palin being the VP option for McCain and I will tell you I had NO plans to vote for him nor Obama and said it would come down to VPs sad statement but true.
Sarah is a supporter of homeschooling...in fact is a breastfeeding homeschooling mom herself. This is a woman/family I can see my kids being able to look up to as a roll model. Very supportive husband and where they have 5 kids they don't have nannies. Her hubby is a sahd. I feel she is showing our girls you CAN have your cake and eat it too IF it is what you truly want. Do your own research, but I feel she is good for Homeschoolers...honestly I fear our rights in more than just HS if Obama gets in.
Palin is CIC of the Alaskan National Guard, is a governor, and she
has a reputation of being capable and tough. She has an 80% approval
rating. She vetoed 300 pork projects. She's been to Iraq as often as Obama has and she's got a son
going there so it would make a lot of sense for to find out as much as
she could. I am sure she knows as much about it as bambam
Washington - With all the talk
about Sarah Palin being picked for vice-president, the Club for Growth
PAC described the Alaska Governor as a genuine reformer who has taken
on wasteful spending in her own state. "At a time when many Republicans
are still clinging to pork-barrel politics, Governor Palin has quickly
become a leader on this issue," said Club for Growth President Pat
Toomey. "She is a principled reformer who understands how badly
wasteful spending has marred the Republican brand."
Governor Palin has proven herself to be a reformer unafraid to take
on the establishment, which she did early on when she took on the
incumbent Republican governor of Alaska in 2006. Only nine months in
office, Governor Palin instructed the state to abandon the notorious
pork project secured by Alaska’s politicians, the $223 million "Bridge
to Nowhere." While many Republicans in Congress are afraid to
antagonize Washington’s biggest porkers, Sarah Palin stood strong for
fiscal responsibility. Palin is also a persistent advocate of drilling
in ANWR and expanding America’s domestic oil supply in general.
Looks, brains, energy, independence advocate, no abortion problem, a woman.
(why wouldn't I want this as a role model for my kids)
"Palin is becoming a star in the conservative movement, a fiscal
conservative in a state that is looking like a boondoggle for pork
barrel spending," Republican pollster Kellyanne Conway has said. "She’s
young, vibrant, fresh and now, and a new mother of five. She should be
in the top tier. If the Republican Party wants to wrestle itself free
from the perception that it is royalist and not open to putting new
talent on the bench, this would be the real opportunity."
She's mainline conservative. Her stances on **** marriage,
capital punishment, abortion and gun control will appeal to many of the
conservatives McCain turned off and into Romney's arms. She could make
them feel better about coming out to vote for McCain.
She's young and female. OK, that's two reasons. But she
balances out some people's concerns with McCain's age (which frankly
stem from having younger presidents for the last 16 years). And being
female helps to neutralize the historic impact of either Obama or
Clinton.
She's charming. Don't count out the importance of this. For many Democrats, the sheer fact that they like Obama more than Clinton has been enough to counteract any concerns over
experience. McCain isn't known for his personal appeal, so she could be
an asset on this point.
Palin completely changes the complexion of the election and helps
establish a narrative of two mavericks, one too old and one too young,
waging an underdog quest against Battlestar Barack.
First - "Palin has no experience". That's an easy one to dismiss. Sarah Palin has had more executive
experience, meaning experience in running either a business or a
government, than either Barack Obama or his running mate, Joe Biden.
She has more executive experience than even her running mate, John
McCain. Governor Palin served as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1999 to
2002. She was elected as President of the Alaska Conference of Mayors.
She was elected as Governor of Alaska in 2006. And she has quite a few concrete achievements , considering the amount of time she's been in office.
Second - "Palin's part of the corrupt GOP establishment in Alaska (Stevens, Young, etc.)". That's an even easier one to dismiss. Governor Palin has always run as
the anti-corruption candidate. She served as Ethics Commissioner of the
Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004, when she
resigned in protest over the actions of her fellow Alaskan GOP leaders,
including then-Alaskan Governor Frank Murkowski. She was furious over
the fact that they ignored her reports of rampant GOP corruption. When
she chose to run for Governor, the GOP establishment ignored her and
supported the incumbent Murkowski. Palin beat him, and went on to beat
former Democratic Governor Tony Knowles with no support from Alaskan GOP leadership.
She has actively supported and helped the GOP primary opponents of
current indicted Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens and Representative Don
Young, and denounced both of them often in public.
Oh, and the forthcoming claim that Palin's in the pocket of big-oil? Her ethics complaints were filed against people who really were in the pocket of big oil - she was on the outside, investigating.
