About Me: I am a believer and follower of Jesus, a wife to my husband Danny, and a mom to two brilliant girls who live with us, and a really sweet boy who is waiting for us in Heaven.
I work part-time as a foster care program counselor for kids with medical problems; my husband is a nurse. We teach our girls at home and are involved in Girl Scouts, too. They are involved in the usual activities such as dance, art, soccer, and music. Most importantly, they still love to play with each other!
Music: I just now discovered Matisyahu! I also love one of the world's most amazing songwriter Keith Green; Jonathan Maracle (a Messianic Native American Indian); and especially DON POTTER!!!! Also, Todd Agnew, Karen Davis, Second Chapter of Acts, Matisahu, Barlow Girl, Selah, Rita Springer, Winds of Fire, Ken Mullis, Chris Rice, Toby Mac, Chris Tomlin, and prophetic and spontaneous music such as Joanne McFatter, Misty Edwards, Brandon Willett, and others from International House of Prayer and MorningStar. I also like Twelve Girls Band, Enya, Allison Krause, plus most Jazz (Diana Krall) and Classical (Pachelbel's Canon in D).
Movies: Happy Feet (just ignore all the propaganda), Facing the Giants, Ushpizin, Finding Nemo, Mulan
TV: Law and Order - I despise most TV. It rots your brain!
Books: I just completed "BLue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller and "Velvet Elvis" by Robb Bell. Very interesting books!
"Envy: the Enemy Within" by Bob Sorge, based on James 3:16
"Dancing for Joy: A Biblical Approach to Praise and Worship"
"The Open Church" and "Megashift" both authored by James Rutz
"Under the Overpass" by Mike Yankowski
"Why Revial Still Tarries" by Chad Taylor
"Thus Saith the Lord?" by John Bevere
"The Power of Motherhood" by Nancy Campbell

Likes: I love reading and writing; scrapbooking; studying theology, particularly the Hebrew roots of Christianity as well as death, angels, and the life after. I enjoy hunting down the perfect books to use in my daughters' homeschool (we use Math-U-See, Wordly Wise, Vocabulary Vine, Sonlight and Five in a Row, two literature-based programs that focus on history).
Dislikes: People who are contentious, or who claim to be 'of God' yet are greedy and manipulative. I don't like prices scanning wrong at the checkout line, bad drivers, disrespectful teenagers, people who think they know it all and cannot learn anything from others. I sure can gripe, huh?
Hobbies: I love singing but it is more than just a hobby. If I could not sing ... cannot even imagine that! I love reading and writing; scrapbooking; studying theology, particularly the Hebrew roots of Christianity as well as death, angels, and the life after.
    Vices: Chocolate; any sweets, actually.
Virtues: Intelligence, a teachable spirit, open-mindedness, empathy, faithfulness, honesty
Heroes: I think the world of George Washington Carver and what he managed to accomplish in his years on earth. In my life now, my hero is my husband, Danny. He is the best daddy in the world and I love him dearly. He is a treasure that has been buried for years and I am so glad he let himself be excavated! I have a few more heroes who will go unnamed here but stand out to me because they have suffered greatly in the loss of a child, but keep getting out of bed each morning anyway. They are more than survivors; they are overcomers. You'd be surprised at how many of these heroes you probably already know.

I am new to this site, having seen an invitation on a homeschool email list, and decided to join in hopes of making some friends in our new home.  I also invited friends from our old home so it might be easier to keep in touch with them, too!
