    Hi Sue..

Yes, Nicole is hoping for the Big Brown Truck. She will be going into 3rd grade and she is really excited about being home schooled. The truck drove on by today. She didn't see him go by which was a good thing. Our school here in ID does not start until the 20th. The classes are all on line and the material's list. But we are waiting on the books. Hope you have a great year also.

    Hey,

We really enjoyed the material we experienced last year. It was kind. and 2nd grade. This year they have added music and art so im thrilled about that! Cant wait to get started. Its not all that i dreamed about but I got so much more out of it that I thought I would. You can not make your "GVA classroom" like a traditional classroom, like i had dreamed of. My children see home school as a time for fun. I had to teach them it was time for learning as well. Schedule is the most important part of home school. With out a schedule to stick to it just will not get done. I found that the best ways to get my daughter to stick to it was a treats. I give out stickers and stamps on graded papers. We also have what we call the treat store. I purchase the mixed goody bags at the dollar tree and filled plastic boxes full of toys that can be purchased with money earned for turned in work. The K12 material by far is the best ive seen. I love the flexibility of GVA. Set your own schedule at your own pace. Everything is hands on. There is always something to make or do. It can be a challenge but my advice is to take it slow at first and then build on it. Listen to the recorded speaker links on getting started. There is a live one coming up soon titled before the boxes arrive. Check in the community chest. Also there are some online parent orientations coming up, Check inside GVA and click on events. I hope all this helps. Need any more advice just let me know!

    Thanks,
