    Setting Some Rules

    Monday, December 10, 2007, 07:52 PM [General]

I am feeling much better today!  I missed my son's baseball tournament this weekend, because I needed to rest and get better!  Mission accomplished, but I feel like I missed all of the fun.  There will be many more tournaments however.

I spent some time this weekend going over our school schedule and what needs to get accomplished in the next few weeks and have come to the conclusion that I have been a little lax in the discilpline dept. I have been trying to come up with some basic rules for the kids.  They have always been well behaved children, but I am feeling we need a little more structure and clear cut rules.  Here is what I have so far...

    1.  Ask to take a break.  Don't just take off when you are done with what you are working on.

    2. Don't dilly dally.  If you need a drink of water, get it and get back to work!

    3. If you don't know what to do next and I am unable to tell you right away, read a book or do something from the Just For Fun box.

    4. If you don't understand an assignment, ASK FOR HELP!

Then I got stuck.  Perhaps I am done, but I wanted to see if anyone had any good suggestions out there.  So please feel free to post me a comment about any suggestions you may have.  I value all of your different opinions and experiences.

    My God, I need...

    Thursday, December 6, 2007, 09:31 PM [General]

I've been having one of those weeks, you know...I've been fighting off a cold that has finally just overpowered me, the migraine headache, which comes once a month, is right on schedule, and no one wants to cooperate with me to get anything done!  Lessons have gone undone, dinner uncooked, Christmas presents unwrapped.  My life feels like it is falling apart, and all I have the energy to do is curl up on the sofa and listen to the wind blow outside (because of course the weather isn't cooperating either, big storm coming!!).  And as I type this, the keyboard is sticking!!  Every other letter will not register, and I have to go back and fix it, UUUGGGHHH! I'm thinking I need something nice and warm and chocolatey, you know to take the edge off!   What do you all do to "take the edge off"?  I'm interested to find out the different stress relievers everyone utilizes to stay sane.  I guess I don't always cope with things very well.  Unfortunately, I choose to eat my way into feeling better.  That isn't really working out too well for me.  I wish I could say that a good long run does it for me, but honestly it just doesn't.  I need to get away more often.  Just me.  Or just me and my husband.  Does anyone get to do this? I need to be unresponsible(is that a word?) for about 3 days. That's enough, because then I am sure I will be bored. But for about three days, just me and Nestle.  And my husband (Someone has to bring me my cocoa!).

    list?
My email in box is one big list. I have 3 kids in PAVCS, last year two were in title one math and reading and the other had special counceling sessions with his teacher and guidance councelor because of behavior issues. My e-mail inbox and calander was one big list of reminders about elluminates and confrences.
